Have you ever had a social media free month? Keep reading to hear my thoughts.
A social media free month… the words kept coming to mind. Do you ever feel the constant nudge to do something? This idea keeps sneaking into your mind, yet you keep pushing it away. That is until it becomes crystal clear.
Over the past couple of months, I have felt the nudge to take a break from social media. In the past, I have done a week’s break but that is the longest. As I thought about this, I felt like I needed to take a month off and then evaluate from there.

A Social Media Free Month
How do I know it is time to take a break from social media?
Honestly, I have gone back and forth on this because my heart has always been to find ways to use social media for good. It has such a bad reputation and I did not want to be another person posting about their social media break.
However, every time I would push the idea away, God would bring it back to my attention whether via a sermon or book, or podcast. And when that happens, I tend to believe I need to listen.
I know it is time to take a break because I have had these feelings over social media:
- Burn out over creating
- Burn out over keeping up with the ever-changing rules
- A desire to be more present in my life.
As I read Find Your People this past week, the challenge in the book club was to take a 48-hour social media break. That was all I needed for the final nudge.
My heart has always been to write, not be on the endless wheel of navigating how to be seen on Instagram.
I do not want to look back at my life and see it was spent mindlessly scrolling over people’s lives. I want to live my life.
The social media free month plan
I plan to take off the rest of August from social media and then evaluate from there what I feel I need to do.
However, I do still plan to write here and send out regular emails! I love writing and encouraging moms so that is not going to stop. If you want to keep receiving weekly encouragement via the blog and email, head here to sign up to stay in touch.
My challenge for you
I am not saying you need to get off social media. I still fully believe it can be a good thing. But if you are feeling worn out by it, consider taking a break too!

I think this is a great!! I have felt the last few months to go through my Facebook friends and shrink it down. And your blog was the final kick I needed.
Yay Sarah! I am planning to do that when I return to social media.
