Have fun with the build a turkey craft!
The build a turkey craft is a perfect activity for Thanksgiving day or throughout the month of November. Kids love creating and making things their own. With this activity, I really encourage you to set up the invitation to play and then let your kids do their thing.
Yes, their turkey may end up with one eye or multiples, it is okay. Let them build a turkey that is unique to them. Ready to get started?
How to Set Up Build a Turkey Craft
First, gather your supplies.
- Tray
- Wiggly Eyes
- Feathers
- Turkey Body (Use brown construction paper or white and use a brown crayon to color).
- Construction Paper for Turkey Gobbler, Beak, and Legs- Depending on your child’s age, you may want to pre-cut out these.
Next, lay everything out.
I like to use a divided tray but you can use whatever you want. Set out some crayons or colored pencils when you set it all up. Make sure to set out some glue too. If you are letting your kids cut out their own additional pieces, add in some kid-friendly scissors.
Invite your kids to play.
The build a turkey craft is a perfect invitation to set up for your kids to get creative with. We did this on a Saturday morning and it was so fun seeing the kids’ creativity shine.
Consider leaving out the invitation to play and adding in additional pieces. You could even add in the playdough and remove the paper items. Then let your kids build a turkey using the playdough.
