Business cards and motherhood… honestly I never thought the two mixed. Yet, now I see how wrong I was! Read more to learn how these connect!
As I ordered business cards the other day, I had to shake my head. I never imagined that I would be in the place where I am today. Running a yearly conference and writing a family lifestyle blog never even crossed my mind. Yet, here I am.
As a younger mom, I pictured motherhood one way. It fit into a nice and neat box. In my mind something like business cards was not even a topic of conversation because how could I balance business and motherhood? However, now nine and a half years into motherhood, my eyes have been opened to so much. I see now that motherhood is not one size box fits all and it definitely is anything but neat and tidy!
Here is the truth moms- You can be a mom and run a business or be a mom and be a nurse or be a full time stay at home mom. The list is endless of what you can do as a mom. Wherever you are called to be, is exactly where you should be.
Embracing this truth has been freeing for me and because of it, I wanted to share some tips with moms who want to run a side business from home.
Embrace your own creative gifts.
Each of us has these beautifully creative gifts within us. I am a firm believer that all women are creative. Our creativity just looks different. We can use our creative gifts in business. A friend of mine started decorating cookies a few years ago. Her cookies are incredible and now she has a thriving cookie business. Another friend used her love for fitness to start a fitness company.
Growing up I always loved to write, however it never seemed like a real job to me. Now, I am pursuing writing and it is so refreshing to be doing exactly what I always loved.
Order business cards.
In the beginning of running my shop, I did not have business cards and I wish I would have. It would have been perfect to put one in with the order I was shipping out. Now, I finally have some business cards!
I was given a set up of cards from Basic Invite and absolutely love them! You can order business cards online which makes things so easy as a busy mom. They are also thick business cards which is nice as I do not have to worry about them getting bent. Their foil cards are available in gold, silver, and rose gold and can be flat or raise foil.
Set up a website.
It is important to have a main hub for your business. While social media is incredible, it is not your own space. Setting up a website does not have to be complicated. Personally, I use Siteground for my hosting and they have helped me get everything all set up and running!
When you have a website and business cards, you are able to cover the online and in person marketing.
Moms, you can thrive at home with a side business if that is where you feel called to be. Know, I am cheering you on! I believe in you and know you will do incredible things!
Pssstttt… One more thing! Basic Invite is preparing for Christmas and you can order your Christmas Cards! They are an incredible company that has a card for almost every major life moment including, weddings, showers, birth announcements, first birthdays, graduations and more! You can order samples ahead of time to ensure what you order is exactly what you want! I highly encourage you to use Basic Invite for your next printing need.
