My Favorite Tool for Teaching Kids About Easter

Easter is such an important day to our family and a time that we want to be intentional in what we teach our kids. After a lot of research, I realized it was really easy to find countless ideas for Christmas and really hard to find tools for teaching kids about Easter

When I saw Star from Afar was releasing a tool for teaching kids about Easter, I was beyond excited! After receiving the Easter Story Egg, I am even more thrilled to use this tool with my kids.

We spent some time looking it over outside last week, and the kids were eager with excitement over it! Right away I could tell that it was going to be a hit with our kids. While there are many reasons why we love the Easter Story Egg, there are three reasons why this is the perfect tool for teaching kids about Easter.

  • 3 Steps to Choose Joy Today

As I sat on the couch, my two boys and little girl snuggled next to me. A worn quilt covered us, warming our weary bodies. In the middle of what had been a chaotic day, joy was creeping into my soul and overshadowing all the stresses of the day. It had been a morning of ups and downs, but in that simple moment all was good. Suddenly, the tiring moments of the day seemed so small in comparison to the current moment.

While sitting on that couch, I thought a lot about choosing joy as a mom. Even though I desired a lifestyle that spilled joy everywhere, it seemed harder than I had imagined when I was in the middle of the trenches.

  • 10 Tips for an Intentional Marriage

There is a great amount of emphasis on being intentional parents and sometimes not as much on having an intentional marriage. Many times we put all of our energy and focus into our children and neglect the marital relationship.

Throughout high school and college, I loved to study and read about marriage. I was and still am determined to have an intentional marriage. Now here we are, almost twelve years in, with three little kids. So far there have definitely been  challenges, death of loved ones, and trials but there have also been so many incredible moments. Even looking back now, I see how we grew through the struggles.

  • 3 Positive Actions When Your Perfect Plans Fail

Every mom seeks the elusive Golden Key to Balance.  Daily, inner battles wage as we second-guess discipline, housework, and meal selections.  We juggle careers, interpersonal relationships, and self-care.  The frequent question, “How to get it all done?” lurks in the back of our minds.

  • Teaching Your Kids Through Books

Whenever I can find a book that has practical lessons within in it, I usually really love it. Teaching your kids through books about kindness, sharing, love, etc is a great visual. My kids always seem to listen a little more and pick up on things when we share in story form.

Recently, I was given the book Same Kind of Different as Me and read it with my boys. Right away, I loved the message of this book as it encourages children to embrace everyone.  We have had some conversations about loving others no matter the differences and how to look out for others so this book connected perfectly with our oldest son. I could tell throughout the story that he felt empathy towards the characters of the book and enjoyed the overall story.

  • DIY Family Valentines

A couple years ago, we started a simple tradition of family Valentines. It all started with taping some envelopes to our fridge. Honestly, I was not sure how it would work. Sometimes I think I have the best idea for our kids and it is a complete flop, but the family valentines were a hit. In fact, they are something the kids have started to look forward to.

Yesterday, I surprised the boys with having the envelopes up for when they returned from school. We are a few days before February, but it is a short month and we like having extra days.
