Getting Started with the Conversation Cards
Download the free printable and then prepare the cards.
Using scissors or a paper cutter, cut the squares apart.
Use a jar to hold the cards.
I love using jars for everything, so it made sense for me to use a jar for this. If you do not have a jar, that is okay. Instead use something else such as a cup, a mug, a little bag, or a basket. When we are flexible with this, we are less focused on making it perfect and more focused on what is being shared.
How to Use them:
- During meal times, such as dinner.
- Bring it in the car.
- After dinner during some family time.
When you use the cards, pass around the jar and have each person take a turn pulling out a question to ask. They can answer it and then everyone can take a turn answering or you can just have the person who draws the question-answer. The beauty of the conversation cards is that they are a tool you can use in whatever way best fits your family.
This is a great way for kids to practice taking turns and respecting others as they talk. Before you pass around the jar, remind everyone of this!
