Looking for Christmas tree ideas for kids? Check out this fun idea!
Looking for Christmas tree ideas for kids started last year when I purchased another little tree on a whim and decided to let the kids have them in their rooms. Now it has become a tradition where they have a mini Christmas tree in their rooms.
Christmas Tree Ideas for Kids
Let your child have ownership of their tree.
The beauty of giving your child a mini tree to decorate is that they get to do what they want with it. Perhaps it will be a dinosaur tree or tree full of glittery ornaments. Whatever it is, let them take the lead.
Decide on what they want their tree to include and then get the items.
My kids did not want specific themes. They were simply amazed by the mini ornaments. Walmart had a great selection that was at a great price. You do not have to spend a lot of money on this.
Here are some fun Christmas tree ideas:
Dinosaur Tree- Purchase ornaments or create your own using mini dino figures from the Dollar store and hot glue ribbon to them.
Colorful Tree- Purchase a variety of colorful ornaments for your child to hang on the tree.
One Color Tree- Have a daughter who is obsessed with pink? Create a pink tree!
Handmade Tree- If your child is into crafts, consider creating different ornaments together.
The options are endless! Have fun with this tradition! It is a great opportunity to embrace togetherness and your child’s uniqueness!

Great advice to let kids decorate their own trees as they want.
Than you!
I always love doing trees for the kids because I love being able to stray from the traditional stuff sometimes. These are some great ideas!
Yes, it really is fun!
Love this, Keri!! I honestly took over all the decorations this year and wouldn’t let anyone in my family add a single ornament on the tree 😝 I think the idea of letting Zach have his own would allow him to do whatever he wanted with out “mom’s control”.
I am horrible with wanting to make the tree “perfect”. This year I am doing good with letting the kids have the trees in their rooms and the decorations in their rooms the way they want them.
It is such a struggle!
I️ love these ideas! Our girls also have their own tree, and we let them decorate it 🙂 This is a fun tradition that we’ve been doing since our oldest daughter was born!
