Learn four ways to connect with your kids, even when life is busy!
How can you connect with your kids in the everyday busy moments of life? It can seem next to impossible and overwhelming. However, I have been learning a few things that have helped me connect with my kids.
4 Ways to Connect with Your Kids
Have regular one on one time with your child.
My kids love when we have a date night with one of them. Immediately, you can see a smile fill their face. The thing about one on one time is that it does not have to be an elaborate activity. It may be taking a bike ride together, getting ice cream, or playing a game. The main focus is on the connection together, not what kind of activity you have.
Put your phone down.
Full confession, I am on my phone way more than I should be. It is something I have been working on (thank goodness for setting downtime on my phone!). As we work on connecting with our kids, we can focus on putting our phones down. A lot of times, I think about how I am setting an example to my kids of what phone etiquette looks like. That puts things into perspective!
Take interest in what they are interested in.
Does Fortnite and Minecraft interest me? Not really. However, it interests my boys so I try to understand it all. We laugh together over things and I ask them questions to learn more.
Use a journal to write to each other.
One of my current favorite ways to connect with my oldest is by using a journal to write to each other. We have been using the From Me to You journal and are loving it. Every day there are little prompts and a space for you to write and your child.
Usually, I will write in it and place it on my son’s bed. At bedtime, he writes in it and then gives it back. It is such a simple thing but has connected us so much!
These are just four ways to connect with your kids. There are countless other ideas! Share your thoughts below!

Those journals look awesome!
They are amazing!
I’ve considered starting a journal with my daughter. I didn’t realize there were journals for this exact purpose. So cool!
I bet she would love it! It makes it so easy!
