Last year I realized I had photos everywhere and decided it was time to create a family yearbook. Since the topic for this month’s Clear the Clutter Challenge is photos, I figured this was the perfect time to chat about it.
Before having kids, I loved to scrapbook. My entire childhood to marriage is scrapbooked in a tons of books. However, now I have a half finished baby book for my almost 9 year old. While I could make the time to scrapbook, it is not something I want to do. However, I still want the photos in some type of memory book. Which led me to the decision to create a family year book.
The purpose of a family yearbook is to have one book per year to hold the memories from the year.
Normally, I want until January and then make the book from the previous year. However, I have heard of ladies who do a little every month, which is pretty brilliant.
The reason I love family yearbooks is because it gets our pictures off our devices and into our hands. My kids love sitting down and looking at all of the pictures from the years past. It is a great way to remember the moments.
I typically use Shutterfly or Chatbooks for our family yearbook. I love the simplicity and how I can do everything easily wihtout any glue! You can try out Shutterfly today and grab yourself a FREE photo book (affiliate link)!
Beyond a family yearbook, I organize photos on my computer in Google Photos. I try to regularly backup my photos onto my computer and store them in folders by month (and then all the months go into the one year folder). There are countless ways to store and backup photos, my advice would be to pick one method and stick with it.

I really need to work towards a family yearbook! I have so many pictures that it would help to have the focus on picking our favorite pictures for this keepsake.
It is a lot of work but so special to have- makes the work worth it!
