Looking for easy Easter basket ideas? These ideas are super simple and practical!
When putting together an Easter basket, I like to focus on simplicity. The “less is more” concept comes to mind as I shop around for items. We like to focus on different intentional activities leading up to Easter more than putting together a huge basket of goodies. However, we do love giving them something.
How do we tie in Easter baskets with Jesus?
Usually, we say that we want to give them a little gift because we love them. Then we go on to say that God loves us so much and He gave us the best gift of all Jesus. Another idea that I really love is this one from Don’t Mom Alone.
Easy Easter Basket Ideas
Before you head out to get an Easter basket, think of what type of container you could use as an Easter basket and then in another way! Some different ideas are:
- Storage Basket (you can use it for their room)
- Sand Bucket
- Toy Purse
- Hat
What to Put in the Basket
There are countless things you can put in Easter baskets. We try to keep it super simple. The Dollar Store and Target Dollar Spot are always great places to shop at. However, make sure you are purchasing things they can actually use and not just random items.

A Book
I love including a book in the Easter basket and love when it is a themed book. We love this Jelly Bean Blessing Book! It is perfect for younger kiddos. The colors are bright and it is a board book style so great for little ones.
Sidewalk Chalk
Since we are entering into spring and the weather is warming up, sidewalk chalk is a great idea! You could even get some of the Easter egg-shaped sidewalk chalk.
Play Dough
Playdough is always a hit and always something that we can use more of. Pick some out in their favorite color. There are also some cute themed ones like these.
Toy
I also like to include one special toy. Usually, I go with something that connects with what they are currently loving. If you have a doll loving child, you should check out these adorable dolls from Pritzy Pritz. They are custom made and great quality.
Food
My kids LOVE Go Go Squeeze Pouches. I love that these are a simple way to add something sweet to the basket!
Other Ideas:
- Candy
- Transformer (I love Ashley’s idea with this)
- Bubbles
- Crayons
- Nail Polish
- Bath Toys
- Sand Toys
The list goes on and on! What will you include in your kid’s Easter basket?
