Every single summer, my kids ask to do some new activities, but there is always one activity they want to do every single summer. Thankfully, it an easy summer activity and barely costs anything! What is their favorite activity? Making dinosaur eggs!
This is the perfect easy summer activity to do right in your own backyard.
Just head to your local dollar store to get two things and you are set to go! There is a little prep time needed but it really is not anything major. Trust me, during the summer I am all about the easy activities.
I usually prepare these the day before so we have some for the next day. If you get a little pack of mini dinosaurs at the dollar store, you will have plenty. Most of the time I do one per child so we can do the activity a couple times.
Supplies Needed:
- Little Dinosaurs or whatever small figure you want to use
- Bag of Balloons
Directions:
- Put one dinosaur into each balloon. This can be a little tricky but you just have to really stretch the balloon open wide. Tip: Once I use all of the dinosaurs, I just reuse them for the balloons.
- Fill the balloon with some water.
- Tie the balloon closed and freeze!
When you are ready to play, simply cut the balloon tie off and peel the balloon off the ice. You will have a ball of ice that has a mini dinosaur in it- the dinosaur egg. Then let your kids explore!
Sometimes my kids will drop the ice on the sidewalk to see it break and other times they put it in a bucket of water or let it melt in the sun. Once July and August hits, the southern heat can usually melt these rather quickly! This easy summer activity is always a big hit with the kids and something we can do throughout the summer.
What is a favorite summer activity of your family?
