Looking for freezer meals? These eight ideas are perfect for families!
Whenever I have some freezer meals put together, I feel just a tad more relaxed. There have been countless times that a freezer meal has been a lifesaver for us- saving me stress and money.
When I was pregnant with my second, a friend gave us 8 freezer meals before his birth. It was one of the best gifts we have ever received! It was a hard adjustment to life with two little ones, and not having to worry about cooking helped relieve so much stress.
Receiving those meals, encouraged me to try making more freezer meals for our family. Even just stocking our freezer with a few a month has been helpful.
Here are some easy freezer meals that you can prepare:
1. Pizza
This is a regular meal at our house. Everyone loves it and you can always add some fun toppings to spice it up. Early on in marriage, I started making my own pizza and it is our favorite. It is easy and tastes so good. I have discovered that you can make the dough ahead of time and freeze it. How brilliant is that?!
2. Spaghetti
Go ahead and brown the beef so it is prepped for the spaghetti. You can add some diced onion if desired. Once it is ready, let it cool and then place in freezer bags. I generally do a couple of pounds of this and separate it into two bags. Then I could even use one for tacos. On the day of, you take out the beef and warm up with the sauce on the stove. Mix with noodles and you are set!
3. Slow Cooker Chicken Gyros and Naan
I love making easy chicken gyros. I will add the chicken breasts to a freezer bag and then all of the ingredients. When we are ready to cook it, just take it out of the freezer and empty the contents into the crockpot.
4. Hamburgers
Prep the patties when you get the beef and freeze in a freezer bag uncooked.
5. Chicken for Tacos
Place 2-4 chicken breasts in a freezer bag and add 1/2 a jar of salsa and some taco seasoning. When you are ready to cook, dump the contents into a slow cooker and cook on high for 4-6 hours. Shred the meat and eat with tortillas, cheese, lettuce, etc.
6. Italian Chicken
Place 2-4 chicken breasts in a freezer bag and add 1/2 – 1 bottle of Italian Dressing. When you are ready to cook, you can do so in the crockpot, grill, or bake it. We love eating this over salads or in wraps.
7. Burritos
These are a favorite for dinners and for lunches.
- 4 Chicken Breasts
- Salsa
- Taco Seasoning
- Green Pepper
- Onion
- Black Beans
- Cheese
- Tortillas
Cook 4 chicken breasts in the slow cooker for 4-6 hours on high in salsa and taco seasoning. Shred the chicken and set aside. Pour the rinsed black beans into a bowl. Cook 1 diced green pepper, 1/2 diced onion, and taco seasoning in oil on the stove. Set aside. In each tortilla spread shredded cheddar cheese, chicken, black beans, and veggie mixture. Roll and wrap each in tin foil. Place wrapped burritos in a freezer bag. Can be baked frozen, place wrapped burrito on a baking sheet and bake at 400 for about 30 minutes or until cooked through. Also can microwave, take out of tin foil.
8. BBQ Chicken
Place 2-4 chicken breasts in a freezer bag and add 1/2 – 1 bottle of BBQ sauce. When you are ready to cook, you can do so in the crockpot, grill, or bake it. We love eating this with buns or even by itself.
Bonus Item:
Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Muffins– These are a huge favorite in our house and go very quickly! The recipe does make a ton thankfully! Money Saving Mom also has a ton of other freezer meal resources worth checking out.
Cookie Dough- I usually just use the recipe on the back of the bag of chocolate chips. Mix it all together and then freeze the dough! Or you can even bake the cookies and freeze some of them.
