Heroes of the Bible: Joseph Activities
READ: The Forgiving Prince (Genesis 37-50)
If the hero is featured in the Jesus Storybook Bible, I share which story to read. There is also the chapters in the Bible that focus on this hero’s story. Do not feel like you have to read all of the chapters shared. Instead take time to read it and pull out truths and main points. In the activity pack, there is a “Tying it Together” sheet that gives parents the main points and questions to ask.
VERSE: Genesis 15:20
Cut out the verse card for Joseph and place somewhere central for your family to review. Use the verse coloring sheet to color or paint and then the kids can place it in their rooms.
CREATE: Coat of Many Colors for Joseph
Using a lunch bag or paper grocery bag have your kids create a coat of many colors using crayons or markers. Get the full instructions in the activity pack. As you create, talk to your kids about how they would have felt getting a coat like Joseph.
ACTION: Find the Hearts
One person will lead a blindfolded family member around the house. Afterwards you can talk about trusting each other and how we trust God even when we cannot see what is ahead. You can also play a simple game of follow the leader and take turns being the leader.
HANDS ON: Wash the Hearts
Your kids will love this activity! Use toothpicks and marshmallows to create your own constellations.
SNACK: Fruit Cups
Make jello and if you can, cut out stars!
FAMILY NIGHT: Words of Kindness Dinner
Head outside as a family and enjoy the stars!
SENSORY BIN: Popcorn Kernels
Fill a container with popcorn kernels and hide the hearts in here! You can also use little figures to act out the story of Joseph.
