How to Celebrate Easter at Home
Read through these ideas and pick out a couple that you will focus on.
Use Easter conversation cards around the table.
These printable conversation cards are great to print off and use around the table at home. You can use the cards to start your day as a family or around the table during dinner.
Talk about Easter a little every day with the Holy Week countdown.
My family has loved having a little countdown that we can use as we lead up to Easter morning. Each day we open the bag to see what item is in there and read the verses together. This activity is great for kids as it breaks up the story into little pieces each day.
Make a resurrection garden.
This is a simple activity that is hands-on and you can use what you have at home and in your yard. When I did this, I showed the kids some pictures of what we were doing and talked about the Easter story. Then they created it using their own ideas.
Use a Holy Week journal.
I love this idea from The Littles and Me. It is a great way to talk about Easter a little each day.
Make resurrection rolls.
All you need for this activity are crescent rolls, marshmallows, and a cinnamon and sugar mixture. It is a fun snack idea plus you can talk about Easter as you make it.
Have an egg hunt.
An Easter egg hunt is always so much fun! Fill some plastic Easter eggs with jelly beans and hide the eggs in your house or in your yard. You can always leave one egg empty as a reminder of the empty tomb.
Decorate Easter eggs.
With decorating eggs, you can do the classic egg decorating with the kit. However, if you do not want to use real eggs, you could paint some plastic eggs or cut out ovals and let your kids decorate them.
Use resurrection eggs to celebrate Easter at home.
Resurrection eggs are a great way to talk through the Easter story in a hands-on way. You can do this activity a little each day or go through them all at once.
Have a special brunch or lunch at home.
Just because you are home doesn’t mean you can’t have a special meal to celebrate Easter. Decide if you are going to do brunch or lunch or dinner. Keep it simple but have fun with it! During the meal, you could use the conversation cards too.
No matter what you decide to do with your family to celebrate Easter at home, know that it does not have to be perfect. If your kids are younger, paraphrase the verses. If your kids are older, have them help you read the verses. Our homes are where we can build a foundation of faith for our kids.
Thankyou. Happy holy week
Thank you!
