Learn how to thrive in the storms of life with these practical tips.
Can we thrive in the storms of life? Or are we simply meant to survive them? I believe that we can thrive, even in the stormy seasons. It does not mean that there will not be moments of survival mode, we all will have those moments, but our life does not have to be characterized by simply surviving it.
Currently, we are in the middle of a lot of chaos. There is so much unknown, plans have been tossed, and we have struggled to have peace or make sense of it all. Yet, even in this time of upheaval, we can thrive.
How to Thrive in the Storms of Life
Spend time in the Word of God.
We need anchors in the storms of life and God’s Word is an anchor. When we spend time reading His Word, our minds will be fixed on what is true.
Stay connected with friends.
Community is vital and even in this time where it is hard to practice this, we still must be intentional. Consider setting up regular zoom calls with friends and family. With a trusted group of friends, open up about what you are struggling with. When we are in the storms, it is good to gather others around us in prayer.
Take care of yourself.
Just as in non-stormy seasons, we need to be caring for our physical, spiritual, and emotional/mental wellbeing. If we are not, we will not be able to care well for others. Take a minute and write down ways that you are taking care of yourself.
Focus on the good.
We started a thankful chain recently and I have a thankful list in my phone. Sometimes, when I am struggling, I will think back to other times that God has provided when there seemed to be no way. God will bring us through this. We do not know how or when, but we can trust that He will bring us through the storm.
Download the Free Journal
During the storms, taking time to journal, read God’s Word, and focus on what you are grateful for can be great ways to re-center yourself. I have a free printable journal that you can grab. Within this journal, you will have a daily passage of Scripture to read, a space to write what you are thankful for, a space to reflect, and a space to write the truth for today. Join me in going through this journal over the next 30 days. Download it here.
The storms of life will come. We will have seasons of calmness and other seasons of complete chaos. It is normal, but through it all, God remains. Let’s fix our eyes on Him and remember that with Him we can thrive, even in the storms.
