Every year when Christmas starts to fill the air, I get all sorts of ideas on how to be intentional as a family. The lists are written, activities pinned, and schedules get way too overcrowded. Many times, instead of having the intentional family time that I crave, we end up worn out and tired.

Last year, I decided to take a different method. Instead of doing more, I did less. The amazing thing about doing less is that you are really able to be intentional in what you choose to do.  A light bulb went off as I realized that I did not have to do everything.

I know I am not alone in this. So many other families try to do it all during the Christmas season. There are so many things that you can say yes to as a family, but what if instead of doing it all, we were intentional with what we did?

This Christmas, I want to invite you to join me in an Intentional Christmas. I have created an Intentional Family Christmas Kit that can be customized to fit each family.

What is in the kit?

  • 1 Muslin Bag
  • Twine
  • 25 Mini Clothespins
  • 25 Blank Activity Cards
  • 1 Card with 50 Activity Ideas
  • 1 Pen
  • 1 Extra Card (contains link and password to daily scripture for families that desire that)

My hope is that each family can sit down together and decide what activities they want to focus on this Christmas season. I provided some ideas in the kit to get your creative ideas flowing. The ideas range from watching The Polar Express to shopping for someone in need to making a gingerbread house. The activity cards are all blank so that each family can personalize the kit to meet their unique family. While there are 25 cards, you do not have to do one a day. You could do one a week and save the rest for next year. Or you could alternate days. It is completely up to you!

As I prepared this product I was reminded of how different each family is. The activities your family focuses on are dependent on the season of life you are in and what you are passionate about. That is the beauty in this being so open. There is freedom to be you.

The twine and clothespins are provided in case your family wants to hang the cards. There are so many ways to display your cards. I am excited to see how each family uses this kit!

My hope is that with this kit, your family will be able to focus on growing and serving together. Remember, being intentional does not always mean doing many things. Often, it is in the faithful small things where the greatest moments happen.
