The lies moms believe hinder moms from truly thriving. Learn how you can replace the lies with truth so you can step forward into freedom.
There are lies moms believe that hold us captive from truly thriving in motherhood. Often, we do not even realize we are believing these lies until we stop to think about or hear someone speaking truth over the lies. Raise your hand if you have thought one of these things:
My kids deserve a better mom.
All I need to do is just survive mom life.
I am not a good mom.
I could go on and on. Each of these statements above are lies. Lies that are whispered to us and keeping us from truly thriving in motherhood.
God gave me these kids on purpose.
I can thrive in the mess of mom life.
By God’s grace, I am a good mom.
Above are truths replacing the lies. See how easy that is?! We can replace the lies with truth, it just takes intentional thinking and focus. Friend, there are so many lies that fill our minds on a daily basis.
There is one lie in particular that can completely throw you off the rail of thriving motherhood. I have fallen for this one myself.
I am enough and I can do this all on my own.
Yes, I have believed this. I aimed to be enough and to do it all. I was going to be supermom, even if I did look like an exhausted, stressed-out mama. My determination would send me into thriving motherhood if I just worked harder, did more, volunteered more, bought organic food, did tot school at home all while making homemade meals and keeping a perfect house. Ah yes, I am sure you are giggling now, but as silly as it sounds this is what I thought.
The truth is that I am not enough and neither are you. Believing this is just another lie moms believe and when we believe this we start thinking we don’t need anyone else or Jesus.
Friend, without Jesus we will never be enough. We cannot mom alone.
Yes, we need systems, family, and friends but most of all we need Jesus!
Through Jesus Christ, we are more than enough because He makes us complete, but on our own we cannot be enough. The only way to truly thrive as a mom is with Jesus. He is the One who helps us thrive. Everything else is just a lie attempting to fog our vision.
Today, I encourage you to step forward in walking with Jesus. Let go of the lies moms believe and step forward into the truth that sets you free.
“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” John 10:10 ESV
The lies moms believe steal, kill, and destroy motherhood. But Jesus, He gives us life and life abundantly. He gives us thriving motherhood!
