Little Women is back and with a modern version! Keep reading to see what my thoughts were on this!
Little Women basically sums up my childhood. My sister and I watched the 1994 Little Women in the theater with my grandma and mom and instantly became obsessed. Of course we bought the video as soon as it came out and watched in on repeat. It was to the point where we were (okay still are) quoting the lines. We even watched the DVD of it a few weeks ago together when I was visiting her for the weekend. Yes, we are obsessed.
Which leads me to the newest version of Little Women that is in theaters starting TODAY! I was given the opportunity to preview this film a couple weeks ago and was instantly excited! Today, I am sharing with you my Little Women movie review!
About the Movie
This version of Little Women is set in modern day times. Little Women is the story of four sisters as they grow up together. It is rated PG-13.
Honestly, it did take me a few minutes to adjust to the story line being in modern day time. I have such a strong love for the 1994 version that nothing will ever surpass it. However, as I continued to watch, my love for the four sisters and their story stayed strong. It was fun seeing Beth’s character and story revealed more in this version of Little Women. I really appreciated seeing some of her back story.
I really enjoyed how they had similar lines from the 1994 version within this version. It was fun seeing how they transformed scenes into a more modern take. I really enjoyed how this version focuses a lot on the attic and the sisters. There are many scenes where they girls talk about how they each have their own castle to build. You can find a lot of deeper meaning as you listen to them talk about the castles throughout the entire movie.
Would I go see this movie?
Most definitely! While it took me a few moments to adjust to the new spin on it, I found myself growing attached to each of the characters. It is a great movie to gather your friends, your mom, your sister, your daughter and head on out to. Even though my favorite is the 1994 version, as a Little Women fan, I still found this movie touching and will connect any person to the story.
