Confession- bath time was always the most treasured time in our house when our kids were all really little. Many evenings, there was the choice between handling baths with the kids or cleaning up after dinner.  Can you guess which option we both  went for?!

As much as bath time may not be my most favorite time, it can be made a little easier, which is why I am sharing my mama’s bath time survival kit. I am a huge advocate of mamas encouraging other mamas and having “me too” moments. So if you have struggled with loving bath time, sit down, take a deep breath, and have a “me too moment.”

Shampoo and Wash

All three of my kids have either sensitive skin or eczema. From the time my oldest was around 4 months old, I started being more aware of what was in all of the products we were using on our skin. His baby wash was my first item to tackle.

Currently, we are loving Nature’s Baby Organics.  I love that bath time can be worry free when I use products that are made well without harsh chemicals. Plus, they smell amazing (there are scent free options)!  The conditioner has been a huge hit as you can wash it out or leave it in. With my daughter’s hair, this has been a necessity. *** Head on over to Instagram today to enter a giveaway for some products (will be posted at 9am EST).

Toys

It is really helpful to have a few bath time toys available for your little ones. If they can play while you wash, you will realize there is less struggle and stress. We love our letters and numbers to play around with in the bath tub. My daughter loves to bring in Barbies as well. Little boats and small plastic toys have always been a hit as well.

Rules & Grace

We always tried to let our kids play in the bath for a few minutes before washing them. If we started washing right away, there was always a struggle. However, when we offered up some balance, it always went much smoother. From day one, come up with some basic bath time ground rules. Stay consistent with them, and you will see a huge difference.

At the same time, remember to have grace with them. They are kids and are learning. Some days bath time may be a breeze and then another day it may be struggle after struggle. This is when patience comes in hand!

Bubbles

Kids love bubbles. This is simple and easy and will help add an element of fun to bath time. We love using Nature’s Baby Bubble Bath. It is a hit every single time.

Hooded Towel

My kids always loved having fun hooded towels for after their baths. Sometimes they did not want bath time to end, but it always made the end better when they got to wear their towel. Currently, my daughter has a princess bath towel and she loves it!

These bath time survival tips may not create a stress free bath time, but I do think they will help you out some. One last bonus tip, add in some laughter. Have fun with your kids. Laugh when they make a beard out of bubbles. Embrace the imperfect and messy moments together.

  1. Those bath products look fabulous! We have to keep those little ones clean from their many adventures, but bubbles are a definite necessity. I would add bath crayons or paint. Target has some great ones in the dollar section and I love allowing my little one to get nice and messy (and colorful) before getting her squeaky clean again.
