This New Year’s Eve Scavenger Hunt is the perfect activity for an at-home celebration!
A New Year’s Eve scavenger hunt is on our list for some at-home fun this year. My kids always love a scavenger hunt and this is a fun way to kick off some family fun!
Since I am naturally a homebody, I love celebrating New Year’s Eve at home and making it a fun night with my kids and husband. In the past, we have done countdown bags and other fun activities and this year we are adding in a scavenger hunt! Ready to join in?
How to Have a New Year’s Eve Scavenger Hunt
Prepare your supplies.
At the end of the scavenger hunt, it is fun to have some type of surprise. Here are some fun ideas:
- Candy
- New Year’s Eve hats
- Countdown Bags for the Night
- A Basket of New Year’s Items (hats, balloons, noisemakers, etc.)
Decide when you will do the scavenger hunt.
You could do the hunt at the start of the evening to kick off the fun. Or it could be one of the activities in your countdown bags. Figure out what works best for your family and do that!
Helpful Tip- If you do not want to have your kids stay up until midnight, create midnight for them! It could be 7:00 pm or 9:00 pm or whatever works! This allows them to have the fun but also ensures rested kids the next day.
Set up for the fun!
You can use the printable cards to set up for the activity! Make sure your kids are not in the area you are setting up. Usually, I will have my kids go outside while I set up. However, if it is too cold you could have your kids go for a short drive with your husband or something like that.
There are pre-filled cards and blank cards so you can decide if you will write your own clues or use the ones I have prepared.
Have fun!
When you are ready give the first clue to your kids and let them have fun! It is always good to remind them to work together and take turns reading the clues. Remind your kids to search together so it is a team activity!
