Use shelves above the washer and dryer.
There are so many cute ideas for putting shelves above the washer and dryer. These can really help create additional space to hold your essential items for this space.
Use storage under the washer and dryer.
Depending on your washer and dryer, you may have the option to have storage underneath. We love the drawers that go under our washer and dryer. They really help create a place for storage and are where we keep all of the laundry supplies.
Do a load of laundry every day.
No matter what your space situation is, I am a fan of doing at least one load of laundry a day. However, this is even more helpful when you are dealing with small spaces. Doing one load of laundry a day will keep the clothes from piling up.
It will take time to get used to this new rhythm but start the day by starting the laundry.
Use dirty clothes baskets.
You do not want your clothes just in a pile out for all to see. Use a basket that you can tuck away if people come over. Consider putting a dirty clothes basket in everyone’s bedrooms so they can easily put their dirty clothes there.
Keep the space minimal.
Really all you need to keep in this space is:
- Laundry Detergent
- Stain Remover
- Dryer Balls/Sheets
- Laundry Basket
If other clutter is causing an issue, remove it and find a new home for it.
Use space-saving laundry detergent.
We recently switched to using Dropps for our laundry detergent and LOVE them! I love that I do not have to worry about picking up laundry detergent. It is delivered to our door. With the detergent being in little pouches, they are very easy to store in a plastic bin.
