Want to save money on school clothes? These tips will help you do just that!
As school is back in session, I have been working on sorting through my kids’ clothes. The school supply list is always full, so I like to look for ways to save money on school clothes. With how quickly kids grow out of clothes, it is very beneficial to look for ways to save.
Tips to Save Money on School Clothes
Before you head out to the stores, you need to head to your child’s closet.
Empty the closet and dressers.
It may seem overwhelming, but emptying out the closet and dressers will help you have a better view of what type of school clothes options your child has. I like to lay all of the clothes by category on the floor so I can see if they are needing more of certain style.
Inspect the clothing.
Is it too worn? Have they ever worn it? Do I love it? Do they love it? Be honest with yourself about the clothes. Put items in keep, donate, or store piles. My son has a few shirts that I know he will never wear, so I set them aside to store for my next son who is not as picky.
Ensure the clothes fit.
If you are not sure if something fits, have your child try on the clothes to double check. There is no reason to keep clothes that are too small in the closet. I will go through all of the clothes and put items I am not sure about in a pile. Then I can have my kids quickly try these on.
Make a list of what you need.
Once everything has been sorted through, you will have a clearer idea of what you need to shop for. Make a list of items that are needed so when you start shopping, you will be able to stay focused and use your money wisely.
Shop second hand.
I love finding great second hand clothing stores. It is amazing the quality of clothes you can find for a discounted price if you just look a little. One great place to shop and donate clothes to is Schoola, which is an online second-hand clothing store. People can donate clothes and choose the school they want the proceeds of their clothing sales to go to. At the same time, others can purchase the clothes at a decent price. As the wife of a teacher, I know how important these funds can be. It is such a practical and easy way to give back.
I always love a win all around as you can donate your old clothing and purchase new items that allows you to save money on school clothes. Schoola sent us some outfits to check out and I am very pleased with them! Each was a great quality item and will be perfect for the school days ahead. With the rate children go through clothes, I am all about shopping second hand in order to save money! I already have a stack of our gently used clothes ready to be sent back to Schoola in one of their pre-labeled bags.
