Heading school clothes shopping? These tips and school clothes shopping list will help you get exactly what you need!
Creating a school clothes shopping list is essential for helping eliminate the back to school overwhelm. As I dive into school prep, I always focus on clothes in the beginning.
I thought I would share with you my process for school clothes shopping because I know it can be stressful!
School Clothes Shopping Tips
Before we head school clothes shopping, I like to see what we actually need.
Empty out the closet and drawers.
I know this may seem a little over the top, but trust me, it helps you see exactly what you have and need.
Sort through the clothes.
Favorites are put into the keep pile. However, items with stains or damage, that don’t fit, or your child does just not like need to be donated. If any items look like they could be sold, I save for a consignment shop such as Once Upon a Child.
Determine where the gaps are.
Does your child need more shorts or tees? Or maybe some clothes for cooler weather. Write out a list of all the things you are in need of.
We like to keep our clothing on the minimal side, so here is a general list that I go by:
- 2 pairs of jeans
- 10-12 tee shirts
- 4-6 pairs of shorts
- 2-3 swimsuits
- 3-4 pajamas
- 3-6 dresses for the girls (my daughter loves dresses so we add in extras of these)
- 6 pairs of socks
- sneakers
- dress shoes
- sandals
- 10 pairs underwear
- 1 light jacket or sweatshirt
Once I have my school clothes shopping list ready, I am able to head to the store!
I am a big fan of shopping at:
Children’s Place-I love this store because they always have free shipping online and constantly have amazing deals!
Once Upon a Child-If, we have some clothes to donate, I like to donate here and then use the money to buy different clothes. I have found to have better luck here in the girl’s clothes.
Stitch Fix– I have always loved Stitch Fix for myself and now they have an option for kids!
I love the idea of a capsule wardrobe for kids! I have been wanting to try Stitch Fix with the kids–I noticed it so popular you can not get a box delivered until almost October! Would be a fun Christmas gift.
