Ready for simple meal planning? Learn how you can simplify things and eliminate overwhelm!
Meal planning does not have to be stressful or something neglected. Often I hear moms say that meal planning sounds overwhelming so they do not want to do it. Or they say they wished they could meal plan because they live in a constant state of just eating whatever.
However, meal planning does not have to be this complicated and impossible thing. It can be simple and when it is done it will reduce stress and help you save money!
Simple Meal Planning Tips
Use the seasonal meal planning approach.
When I saw this concept from Natasha, I absolutely loved the idea. It is brilliant and simple! The idea is that you have a list of meals for that season and then you rotate through them. It makes so much sense and helps eliminate the overwhelm! Read more about seasonal meal planning and check out her meal planner (it is on my Christmas list).
Have specific days for certain meals.
For example you could have taco Tuesday, Italian on Wednesday, Soup on Thursday, Pizza on Friday, Mexican on Saturday, a sheet pan meal on Sunday, crockpot meal on Monday. Having this type of format can help you narrow down what you are choosing to make.
Come up with a list of seven dinners.
I do not always assign specific dinners to specific evenings. Many times, I will have a list of seven dinners that I know we have the ingredients on hand for. Then every morning I look at that list and choose a dinner for that evening.
Keep things simple.
For our meals I try to think of including a vegetable with every meal. Many times this is mixed veggies, cut up carrots or cucumbers, sweet potato fries, or salad. It is simple and I keep these items on hand for easy access.
