The month of November is a favorite for me because of the focus on gratitude. Right before the month where gifts abound, we have the opportunity to focus on giving thanks. We can either use November to intentionally focus on teaching kids about gratitude, or let us pass us by.
One of my favorite tools for teaching my kids about gratitude is Turkey on the Table®. When I first saw the turkey, I was so excited because I had not seen anything like this before! We have our favorite tools for Christmas and Easter, but Thanksgiving was always a mix of things. This year we are so excited to add Turkey on the Table® to our November.
While there are many reasons why we love the turkey, here are 4 main reasons.
Hands On Activity
My kids are currently ages 8, 5, and 3. As soon as they opened the turkey, they were in love. Each turkey has an adorable book, pen, and feathers. The kids are eager to start writing on the feathers, but I told them we need to wait until November.

Teaches an Important Value
The lesson of gratitude is an ongoing one in our house. I love writing down three things I am grateful for each day. Personally, focusing on gratitude completely focuses your attitude. I want this to be true in my children’s lives as well.
Using the turkey encourages gratitude to be a part of the daily routine. Each day you are encouraged to write down what you are grateful for on a feather and then add the feather to the turkey. By the end of November, you will have a turkey full of thankful feathers!

You Can Use It Every Year
The practical side of me loves that the turkey can be used year after year. After this November, we will keep the feathers. I plan to store them with the turkey so we can read them again at the beginning of next year in November. When it is time to use the turkey again, all you have to do is order new feathers.

Every turkey helps provide food for others
When you purchase a turkey, you are providing food for those who have none. Turkey on the Table® has a partnership with Feeding America. I love when a company has a give back model, and this is a perfect example.

Oh my goodness! This is so cute! Thanks for sharing. Love this idea!
Thank you Amanda!
I hadn’t heard of this. It I absolutely love the idea!!! My younger kids are 6,5,2, & 9 months and it would be so fun to use with them!!!
They would love it at those ages!
This is such a fun way to practice gratitude! And I love that you can use it every year!
Me too- makes it such a fun tradition!
Oh my goodness! I love this so very much. You know, I have a journal that I was going to write two things I am grateful for each day…. but I never used it! Maybe this November that will be a goal.
I have been doing the Last 90 Days challenge with Rachel Hollis and that is her thing, to have 10 things you are grateful for each day. Makes a huge difference.
This is so awesome. I’d love to use this with my future kiddos. Or even in my classroom!
It would be perfect in a classroom!
