Tips for Starting Homeschooling
Do not try to reproduce the classroom at home.
When I met with Ashley to talk about homeschooling, she shared these tips and it has stuck with me. Part of the reason I am excited about homeschool is because of the freedom from the classroom! However, I have already seen how I start to try to reproduce a classroom. Make sure to read Ashley’s other tips from her first year here!
Make a plan but hold it loosely.
I have absolutely loved following along with Carla’s homeschooling Instagram stories. They are such a breath of fresh air and she gives so much wisdom every day. Make sure to head over to follow along! She also is a fellow small home mama, so I love seeing how she teaches without a designated homeschool room.
Know your why for homeschooling.
Amanda shared with the tip with me and it has stuck with me. It is easy to get caught up in all of the curriculum and ideas and lose sight of the reason behind this all. Amanda has great tips for creating a vision statement for homeschooling!
Start the day with morning time.
I have always loved the idea of a morning basket and love Elizabeth’s tips for morning time.
Create a daily rhythm.
Natasha is another homeschool mom favorite. She shares through Instagram and her blog and I have loved seeing her share about their daily rhythm.
Give grace.
This is something I have been telling myself on repeat. Moms, we have never done this before so we have to give ourselves and our kids grace.
Make sure to follow along on Instagram as I share our homeschool journey this year!
I’m so excited for you and your two littles! Homeschooling will be a new adventure, not an easy one, but one I know you’ll all come to love and appreciate. You’ve got this and I’m so grateful to have the opportunity to follow along with your journey!
This is such an exciting chapter for you!! Good luck! I am deciding this week if I will homeschool my 2nd grader. We are waiting to find out what the virtual program will be.
These are all great tips! Especially giving yourself grace!
