Tired of the toy clutter? Check out these helpful toy organization tips!
Toy organization can be such a struggle because of how quickly toys can gather and spread throughout every section of the house. In our small home, without a playroom, I have focused on toy organization. Today, I am sharing my best toy organization tips along with how to declutter them!
It is our final month of Clear the Clutter! Whew! We made it through a whole year of decluttering and organization. Make sure to read below about the 2019 challenge!
Toy Organization Tips
Get Prepared
Gather 4 bins for the following:
- Keep
- Donate
- Trash/Recycle
- Move
Get to Work
Go through everything! This means on the shelves, the bins the baskets, etc. Sort the items into the four categories above.
If your kids have not played with something in a while or they have grown out of it, let it go. If toys are broken or damaged let them go.
When I donate toys I either give to another family, find somewhere to donate, or resell on Facebook Marketplace.
Clean the Space
Wipe the shelves and clean inside and outside of toy bins. Wipe off the toys. If a bin is damaged or not serving the area well, place it in the move pile.
Decide on Organization Method
I like to keep toys in specific locations and separated according to type. All of the kitchen toys are in the the play kitchen. All of the Barbie toys are by the Barbie house. This helps toys have a home.
Organize the Toys
Set the donate, trash/recycle, and move baskets aside. Go through your keep basket. Lay everything out, sorting by category. For example: toy kitchen items in one pile and superheroes in another pile.
That is it! Keep it simple!
