Four simple ways to capture family memories.
Looking for simple ways to capture family memories? I am sharing four easy ideas that have been meaningful for our family. As my kids get older, I continue to see the value of capturing memories, because it can be hard to remember all of the little things.
Four Ways to Capture Family Memories
Each New Step Journal
I love the idea of using a journal like the Each New Step Journal. It is such a simple and beautiful way to capture family memories.
Inside the journal, you can keep track of:
- Firsts
- Funnies
- School Days
- Birthdays
- Holidays
- Memories
There are also spaces where you can write letters to your child. This would be such a sweet gift to give your child once they are grown. If you want to order your own journal use the code ENS15 for 15% off your first book! Shop here.
Memory Jar
Our family has loved using a memory jar as a way to remember little moments every single year. This is a very simple and intentional way to write down the good and then reflect on it at the end of every year. Read more about creating your own memory jar.
Family Photo Book
Growing up, I was an avid scrapbooker. My entire childhood is scrapbooked. However, as a mom, I could not get into the stickers and photos. This left me with a half-finished baby book for my oldest and many, many photos on my phone.
I decided to start putting the photos from my phone into photobooks. I have used Chatbooks and Shutterfly to do this and it is so easy. You can create a yearly, seasonal, or monthly photo book for your family.
Kids’ Memory Books
A simple way to store school papers is by using a binder to create a memory book. This will help you to capture the work that your child did and encourage them to look back on the work and see their progress. These books have become a favorite for my kids.
Capturing family memories is such a sacred and beautiful thing but it can often get lost in the busy of our every day lives. Which of these four ideas will you start to implement today? I encourage you to pick one to start and then slowly add in the others that are interesting to you.

I’ve seen you share your memory books on Instagram stories and I’m in love with the concept!! I really need to start doing this.
These are all great ways to preserve memories! I’m a super sentimental person so I am all about this! It’s been on my list for years to make family yearbooks with Shutterfly and I really want to get started!
I am slowly working on the family yearbooks. The kids really seem to love them!
